I think we all usually define success as being rich and/or famous, the dictionary definition of success – the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.
Here is a step-by-step plan for building the foundation of your internet marketing business – for people who are ready to get their tail in gear!
Step 1: You Need Something to Sell
In general, there are two big ways to make money online:
1. Sell your own product to people who want it.
2. Promote someone else’s product.
There are pros and cons with both choices. For example, you’ll usually make more money if you sell your own product, but you have almost zero customer service issues when you promote a product as an affiliate. (Yay!)
I think the biggest downside of selling your own product is – you must have a product first before you
can sell it! This article is too limited in scope to get into all the details of creating your own product, but if want to learn how to get the task done, MMO System can help you.
No matter which way you choose to go, the one thing you’re always going to want is more traffic – more people seeing your offer. So set up a schedule and write at least one new article per week and get it distributed. Also, keep checking in to the forums and answering questions. And always, of course, add new info to your blog at least 2-3 times per week.
Step 2 – Gathering Raw Material
Chosen a niche/topic that you know about and find a matching affiliate program you’re going to promote, example. In other words, pick something and do it! I don’t care what, just pick something. It’s not okay to get “stuck” on something now just because it’s hard to make a decision.
How many choices are there? A bazillion! If your eyes are glazing over and you’re suffering from information overload, that means you’re thinking too much. So just pick one and worry about what it is later.
If you have a high degree of knowledge about your chosen subject, you can just pull the raw material from your brain, but the rest of us are going to take advantage of the search engines.
If you’re starting to have a panic attack because you don’t consider yourself a writer, stop freaking. This part is really easy. Yes, if you do have “writing genes” it’ll be easier for you, but even normal people can handle this. Especially because this is just the finding phase, not the writing phase.
Step 3: Setting Up The Autoresponder
In case you don’t know what an autoresponder is, it’s a special email account that “automatically responds” when someone sends it an email, such as a subscribe request. A sequential autoresponder is what we want for marketing – that will send out a sequence of emails at pre-specified intervals. I use AWeber.
The other one is GetResponse, personally, I haven’t use it, but it’s spoken of highly by people I really trust.
Once you have your autoresponder in the place, then login to your account and set up a new autoresponder for your project. Using the raw materials we gathered in Step 2 and create a series of follow-up emails your prospects will receive.
When a prospect comes to your web site and signs up for your list, you’re going to send them an email
immediately – well, your autoresponder is, anyway. You could be sleeping or out watching a movie
when it happens (which is why we all love autoresponders so much).
That first email goes out on Day 0 (your autoresponder service may start with Day 1, so you might have to add 1 to my numbers here, but it’ll still work), second email a day later, third email two days after that, and so on.
All in all you’ll be writing 8 emails, and while that may sound like a lot, it’s not. You should probably shoot for 20-40 emails in your sequence, but 8 is a good start.
If you’re thinking 8 emails is too many to write that you’ll never get through them, don’t worry – they’re going to be short and to the point. And there’s kind of a formula, so once you have that down you can just crank them out.
Step 4: Capturing Names
One way of capturing names is to include an opt-in box on your web page. People can opt-in if they like,
or just skip it. But there’s a better way to go that’s often called a squeeze page, or a landing page or a forced opt-in page.
With a forced opt-in page you’re stopping the prospect and saying, “Before I let you see all the information about Widgets, I’d like your name and email address, please.”
While “common sense” says you will lose sales by making it harder for people to see your sales page, testing proves otherwise. When you use a forced opt-in page what usually happens is the following:
• The number of people who read your sales letter goes down.
• The people who do read are more qualified, so conversion rates are higher.
• Your opt-in list grows faster than before.

Step 5: Steering Traffic Your Way
Follow by above steps, by now you should have a product to promote and a way to capture prospects, but you’ll never make any sales or have anyone opt-in to your list until you get some traffic to your site.
There are several ways to generate traffic that don’t rely on ever-changing algorithms, they are:
• Blog entries
• Social media marketing
• Pay-per-click advertising
• Forum participation
Four of those methods are absolutely free. If you have some money you’d like to spend on site promotion, you can try pay-per-click advertising but be aware, if not careful, it can cost you a fortune
Since the compelling content is still the king, get those targeted free traffic from Google and other search engines is what every webmaster wants. To meet the goal, you need to apply the finer points of search engine optimization (SEO).
Three are three basic things about SEO:
1. The language searchers use,
