Digital has been growing in importance for a while in the world. As mobile technology continues to evolve, mobile marketing messages becomes increasingly personalized and relevant, mobile users are becoming more accepting of ads on their devices and they are showing a greater inclination towards receiving mobile advertising and marketing messages.
Here are some interesting data about mobile advertising. From the statistics, you can see age played a slightly bigger role in mobile ad recall, with respondents over 30 years old in the lead at 39% recall.
An earlier survey conducted by Luth Research for the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) found somewhat higher overall ad recall, with 58% of mobile phone owners claiming they remembered seeing a mobile ad in the past month. Another 29% of respondents recalled between one and five advertisements. Among those who recalled mobile ads, 39% had taken some kind of action, and 43% of those who interacted with an ad ended up making a purchase.
In 2011, according to the MMA – mobile will be the only truly conversational and measurable medium that can lead to an actual, real-time increase in business-to-consumer transactions. This is the year that mobile phones will play an important role in commerce, the most commonly recalled ads were for consumer goods, mobile content, and movies and entertainment. For the global mobile advertising market, it is expected to grow to $13 to $14 billion in 2011 and Asia Pacific is expected to bring in the majority of this revenue followed by North America and Europe, according to the study.
In addition, with the introduction and adoption of tablet devices, the consumers now have greater speed, connectivity and battery life in their mobile devices. Several writers and bloggers are already using these devices to pen down their thoughts. With processing power that allows for editing and upload of content in various formats, these mobile devices are fast becoming the preferred travel gadget for professionals and have created opportunities for the development of a whole new set of user applications.
As mobile phones become more sophisticated and feature-rich, they will increasingly being used as a replacement for computers, which makes me think about moblogging (blogging from a mobile device).
But for the mblogging, let’s say, you’re in the middle of Yellowstone Park, or at the top of the Eiffel Tower, and you dash off a quick blog entry from your phone, the ultimate convenience in sharing your thoughts with the world, how wonderful is it!
If you don’t want to be stuck at the computer in order to post to your blog and if you want to blogging anywhere from your mobile devices, one of the things you need to do is to make sure that yours sites are mobile friendly first.
Many blog services already support mobile blogging (aka moblogging) via email, phone, and text messages (aka SMS and MMS) which can make blogging on the go easier without the need of a WiFi network or a computer.
By doing that, WordPress users who are looking to get the most out of their mobile blogging experience – WPtouch iPhone Theme plugin is the way to go. But the downside of this plugin is that the advanced features may be too advanced for some phones that are not iPhones, Androids, Blackberrys, and so on. For older phones, the safer plugin to go with would definitely be the WordPress Mobile Pack.
I am really looking forward to the day that I can leave my laptop at home, just go with my mobile when I pack my suitcase.
